Rose Standish
Rhyde, daughter of William David and Sarah Estella (Taylor)
Rhyde.
Rose's middle
name was passed down from her grandmother Amelia Ann (Standish)
Taylor, who was 5th great granddaughter of Myles Standish.

Ford Warren Shepard, sons of Duane Henry and Martha

Ford Warren
Shepard was brother to Diane's grandfather Smith Jared Shepard.
Ford lived in a one room school house in Burlington, NY. He was a
hunter, trapper, fisherman, and he kept bees. He lived without
electricity and modern conveniences. Whenever we visited him he
would always go to his old desk to get peppermint candy for my
brother and me. For Christmas Ford always gave us each five
dollars and a jar of honey. Ford bears a striking resemblance to
his nephew (Diane's father).

We think the desk
was passed down to Uncle Ford through his grandmother Emily Jane
(Jones) Shepard's family. Emily was the daughter of Samuel D.
& Betsy J. (Ismond) Jones. Samuel was born in Reading,
Windsor County, Vermont and his parents Elias & Esther (Dana)
Jones were born in Pomfret, Windham County, Connecticut. My Uncle
Glenn inherited Ford's desk. Glenn knew how fond I was of this
desk and said that when I got married he would give me the desk.
He was true to his word and what a joy the desk is to have,
bringing back all the memories of visiting Uncle Ford.
