Henry Child was
born 28 May 1717 in Woodstock, Windham Co., CT and died 17 Jan
1795 and was buried in East Woodstock Cemetery, East Woodstock,
Windham Co., CT.
Henry Child was
brother to my 6th great grandmother Mehitable (Child) Lyon (wife
of Nehemiah Lyon). Henry and Mehitable were children of Ephraim
Child and Priscilla (Harris) Child.
Henry Child
married (1st) 20 Jan 1742 Rebecca Bacon daughter of Thomas Bacon
and Dinah (Spalding) Bacon. Dinah Spalding was probably the
daughter of John Spalding and Ann (Ballard) Spalding. John
Spalding was brother to my 8th great grandfather Edward Spalding.
John and Edward were sons of John Spalding and Hannah (Heald)
Spalding.
Henry Child
(whose stone is above) married (2nd) 6 July 1757 Dorothy Child
daughter of Nathaniel Child and Dorothy (Johnson) Child.
Nathaniel Child was the son of Lieut. John Child and Elizabeth
(Wales) Child. Lieut. John Child was brother to my 8th great
grandfather Benjamin Child. Lieut. John and Benjamin were sons of
Benjamin Child and Mary (Bowen) Child.
Dorothy (Child)
Child's mother Dorothy (Johnson) Child was the daughter of Maj.
Smith Johnson and Sarah (Mills) Johnson. Maj. Smith Johnson was
the son of Nathaniel Johnson and Mary (Smith) Johnson. Nathaniel
Johnson was brother to my 8th great grandmother Elizabeth
(Johnson) Bowen (wife of Lieut. Henry Bowen). Nathaniel and
Elizabeth were children of Capt. Isaac Johnson and Elizabeth
(Porter) Johnson.
Henry Child and
Dorothy (Child) Child's great grandson Elias Child wrote the book
"Genealogy of the Child, Childs, and Childe Families,"
published by Curtiss & Childs, 1881.
