OBJECTIVES
When you have
completed this course, you should have a basic understanding of the potential
uses for computing in education, some basic educational computing skills,
and the ability to apply these in the classroom.
Specifically, for each of the four
functional areas covered -- telecommunications, tutor, tool, tutee -- you
should:
Know what
kinds of things can be done with computers to enhance teaching and learning;
have a sense
of the ideas and issues governing such usage;
have acquired
basic skills in that domain and know where you can develop them further;
and
be comfortable
integrating appropriate computing technologies into your own teaching.
You should also
have developed a set of lessons and some other useful items to use in your
teaching practice, as well a portfolio of information to guide you in using
computers with your students and to show your (real or potential) supervisors
to impress upon them the extent of your technological knowledge and skills.
To that same ends, we will give you
a certificate (suitable for framing) documenting your successful completion
of this course.
