It is our belief that the use of computers in (and perhaps in our case as) classrooms is changing the emphasis in education away from teaching and towards learning, away from instruction and towards study. You are encouraged, therefore, to study these materials in whatever sequence you think best, and to complete the course within a time-frame that meets your needs. You are encouraged, in fact, to explore and reflect on this aspect of your learning experiences.
The suggested syllabus which follows, then, is just that, suggested. You might think of it as a kind of timeline to measure your progress against. We highly encourage you, however, to take the idea of scheduling seriously.
At the very least, you need to post to the discussion and to your journal, every week. Remember the discussions for each module will be closed two weeks after the end of the module. And you really do need to keep to some kind of a schedule for completing the assignments. To help you, we have provided you with a cumulative Grade Sheet which matches the assignment chart found in the Course Expectations section of this orientation.
You will not be penalized by us for not handing in assignments (until, of course, after the May 14th due date). You will however only be graded on what you do turn in by May 14th. You have only yourself to answer to. How does it feel?
